Tamale Mirundi Junior, son of the late political analyst Tamale Mirundi, has been disowned by his clan following his refusal to reconcile with the Buganda Kingdom, a fallout that started with his father’s long-standing verbal attacks on the Kingdom.

During the funeral, the Mirundi family sought to make peace with the Buganda Kingdom, apologizing for the late political commentator’s actions and requesting a meeting with the Katikiro (Prime Minister) to settle the matter.

The family’s request was honored on September 25th, 2024, as they met the Katikiro at Bulange, Mengo. In the meeting, the Katikiro accepted the family’s apology on behalf of the Kabaka and urged Ugandans to avoid using social media for attacks.

However, Tamale Mirundi Junior refused to partake in the apology, adamantly stating that he would never apologize to the Kingdom. He stood firm on his belief in his father’s stance and criticized those advising the family to apologize.

Over the weekend, Junior was summoned to a clan meeting where elders hoped to address the situation. Despite their attempts, Junior remained unrepentant, making statements that upset the elders. As a result, he was expelled from the meeting and officially disowned by the clan.
