Comedian Patrick Idringi known by stage name Patrick Salvador has been one of the most consistent comedians in Uganda for the last 10 years. As a comedian, Salvador has done almost all and achieved what a comedian outdoor perhaps dreams of achieving.
Apart from traversing the world and getting ambassadorial gigs, Salvador also hosts his two comedy shows and one is an annual show dubbed Africa Laughs and the other is the Just Comedy, a weekly comedy show.
Ever since the country was opened after two years of lockdown, we have not seen Salvador announcing the return of his Just comedy show that used to happen at Kingdom Kampala.
Salvador instead announced at a press conference that the Just comedy show will not happen at Kingdom Kampala again but will rather happen in his area code. If you didn’t know, Salvador is not neighbours with people of Munyonyo, Kireka, Bweyogerere, Kololo or Salaama Road. Apart from Ombokolo, Salvador comes from Kyanja located in the ouksirts of Kampala.
Talking about Kyanja, Salvador at the Press conference that was held at Canary gardens in Kyanja explained that the reason he was taking the show to Kyanja was because he wanted to give back and also help members of his community through his God-given talent.
“During the two years of lockdown, I witnessed lots of things and this was in our whatsapp group of the community that we named the Kyanja Neighborhood watch “ Salvador said. He went on and said that the group is meant for security, enjoyments, helping each other and on top of all, getting to know each other.
Salvador said that in this group was when he used to read and watch stories of how some people in Kyanja were suffering because of lockdown and the help was little because most of the neighbours were not well off and had saved to pass through the tough time of lockdown.
It was when he got an idea to bring the Just Comedy show to Canary gardens in Kyanja so as to always save atleast a million and bank it in the community’s bank account after every comedy show. He says this would help accumulate funds that would help incase members of the community are in need instead of calling upon others to contribute.
The comedy show will kick off on September 8th at Canary gardens and entrance will be Shs20,000 for ordinary, Shs50,000 for VIP and a table of 8 going for Shs500,000.
