The Crested Cranes days at the on going Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco are numbered after a second loss to the hosts in as many matches.

Rosella Ayane who plays for Tottenham scored the opener in the 14th minute but Sumayiya Komuntale leveled matters for the Crested Cranes at the 32nd minute mark. Nesryne El Chad restored the hosts’ lead in the 68th minutes before captain Ghizlane Chebbak sealed the quarter finals slot for Morocco with a goal in the 84th minute.

Crested Cranes slim hopes now lie in beating Burkina Faso in their last match to stand a chance for the two slots for the two best third placed teams.

Senegal also qualified for the quarter finals with a 2:0 win against Burkina Faso that took them to six points from two matches having beaten the Crested Cranes with the same score in their first match.

Uganda will learn of their destiny when they play their last group A match against Burkina Faso on Friday 8th July 2022.
