Recently relocated back home from Denmark, singer Joanita Zachariassen has shut down speculation that she fell out with Sheebah Karungi following their 2021 collaboration, You Lied.
For some time, rumors have suggested that the two artists had a rift, allegedly because Sheebah did not actively promote the song. However, speaking to the press, Zachariassen clarified that Sheebah was fully supportive of the project and even had her then-manager, Jeff Kiwa, backing its promotion.
“I always wanted to do a collabo with Sheebah, and at that time, she was with Jeff Kiwa. They liked the idea, and we did the song and the video. She was supportive and pushed the song. I am so grateful for the collaboration, and we are still in touch,” she explained.
Although Sheebah has since relocated to Canada to focus on raising her child, Zachariassen insists that their friendship remains intact despite not being in constant contact.
When asked about future collaborations, Joanita revealed that she is currently focusing on solidifying her individual sound before working with other artists.
“I will wait on the collabos because I want my sound and voice to be heard. I want to build my fanbase to love my sound before working with other artists. But there are so many talented artists in Uganda,” she added.
With her focus on establishing her musical identity, fans can expect more solo projects from Joanita Zachariassen before she jumps into new collaborations.
