Apostle Grace Lubega of Phaneroo Ministries has ignited controversy with his recent remarks, declaring that praying to Mother Mary is equivalent to idol worship—a practice he claims is strictly forbidden by God.

In a viral sermon, Lubega argued that while Catholics acknowledge Mother Mary’s presence in heaven, their practice of praying to her and venerating her images contradicts the Ten Commandments. He specifically pointed to the commandment that prohibits the creation and worship of graven images, stating that the Catholic Church has misled its followers by promoting what he views as idolatry.

Lubega went further to claim that certain Bibles produced under the Roman Empire deliberately omitted the commandment against idol worship, leading to generations of misinterpretation.

His statements have sparked outrage among Catholics, who took to social media to defend their faith and push back against his claims.

“That Apostle guy needs to know the difference between veneration and adoration when it comes to the Catholic Church; otherwise, soon he will lose the little respect some people from other religions had for him,” one Catholic critic commented.

Another fired back with sarcasm, “Every time, Nye Nye Nye Catholics worshipping idols… Ba guys, mutuleke!! If we go to hell, let us go. It’s none of your business!! You go to your heaven and we won’t bother you, after all, there’s no beer that side ahhh.”

While Catholic leadership rarely responds to such attacks, this latest wave of criticism has clearly struck a nerve among believers.
