Highliting the good side of Nyege Nyege annual festival, the former Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has strongly backed the festival as a cluster of Islamic leaders had started campaigning for it to be banned.

All this comes after Sheikh Ismail Basoga Adi, the khadi of Jinja district, recently expressed his concerns about the Nyege Nyege Festival, describing it as "bad and immoral" and questioning its positive impact.

According to Basoga, the activities that take place during the festival are not suitable for the younger generation and go against moral values. Despite the festival's financial success, he believes it is not a beneficial event.

As soon as his statements were shared online, they sparked a range of reactions from internet users and even caught the attention of former festival attendees, such as Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.

"How many children have attended the Nyege Nyege Festival and why didn't you ban the "bourbon" Festival which has just taken place in Jinja City just this weekend"- she posted on X.

The festival is happening from 9th November to 12th November 2023. It's going to be held at a fantastic combined venue of Jinja Source of the Nile, Jinja Golf Course, and Jinja agriculture showgrounds in the beautiful Busoga region. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on all the fun and excitement!
