Museveni Orders Food Relief to Mubende and Kassanda Districts After Announcing Lockdown

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ordered for food relief distribution to the poor residing in the Ebola epicentres of Mubende and Kassanda districts.

The food relief distribution to start soon targets over 1 million people within Mubende and Kassanda districts who are affected by the lockdown as a measure of containing the Sudan Ebola virus within Wamala region.

The news has been revealed by Premier Robinah Nabbanja how the Fountain of Honour ordered for food relief to be delivered to Mubende and Kassanda districts, the epicentres of the Ebola virus outbreak.

Julius Mucunguzi, the head of communications at the office of the prime minister, in a tweet has said this was revealed by the premier as she presided over a baraza in Luwero district.

"@RobinahNabbanja while presiding over a baraza in Luwero says HE @KagutaMuseveni has directed that families living hand to mouth & most affected by measures to stop the spread of Ebola in Mubende &Kassanda should be given relief food by @OPMUganda,” Mucunguzi tweeted.

It's now a week ever since Mubende and Kassanda districts were put under a 21-day partial lockdown declared as a preventive measure to curb the spread of Ebola virus disease.

Ebola has so far claimed over 28 lives, according to the Ministry of Health and many more under medical attention in the isolation.
