One of Uganda's most talented left back has this weekend gone on to announce his retirement from playing international football but to remain on club football.
Walusimbi has been an outstanding figure in the Uganda Cranes team and became the first Uganda Cranes player to feature in more than 100 appearances. At His break through, he faced competition from senior and experienced defenders Nistelrooy Kizito and Abubacker Tabula but beat the competition hence establishing himself as the starter at the left back.
Since his international debut in 2009, he has been in all Uganda's struggles to break the jinx of not qualifying for Africa Cup of Nations not until 2017 when the Cranes finally qualified for the first time since 1978.
He was also part of the Cranes squad for Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.
He has at some occasions been deployed at the left wing to help in giving more attacking options.
At Club Level, He played for Soccer Club Villa between 2006 t0 2010 netting 22 goals in 92 caps.
He played 34 matches scoring 5 goals for Bunamwaya between 2010 and 2013 before moving to DR Congo's CS Don Bosco where he didn't last for a long period of time.
In the same year, Walusimbi, a.k.a "Jjaja Walu" returned to his parent club Villa who he played for until 2014 when he joined Kenya's outfits Gor Mahia until 2018.
In Kenya he joined former Uganda Cranes coach Bob Williamson and during that spell he (Walu) guided the club to four titles (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018).
He currently plays in South Africa for Kaiser Chiefs grabbing 10 appearances but yet to score for the club.
His departure from the National team leaves a void in the left back for players like KCCA's Mustafa Kizza, Joseph Ochaya, Isaac Muleme and others to feel.
