Match Day eight of the Star Times Uganda Premier League got under way on Tuesday with six fixtures played yielding sixteen goals at different stadiums.
SC Villa fell to an upset in Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium where they lost 1:0 to the Ankole Lions. Solomon Okwalinga gave the Husein Mbalangu coached side an offset as early as in the 4th minute and the goal turned out a match decider after 90 minutes. It ended Mbarara City's four match winless run since a win again Arua Hills a month ago.
In Arua, Onduparaka FC squandered a 1:0 lead to draw one one with defending champions Express FC at Green Light Stadium. Muhammad Shaban scored his second of the season in the 9th minute but was cancelled out by Godfrey Lwesibaawa who levelled matters for the Wasswa Bbosa coached team.
However, the Red Eagles will be thankful for a point earned after they had their own Enoch Ssebagala given matching orders following a second bookable adding to close to eight first team players who missed on Express' side.
At Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, it was goal fiesta as Wakiso Giants walloped Soltilo Bright Stars FC 4:2. The away side got the lead as early as in the second minute when James Angu scored but Satulo Edward equalized for the home side in the 19th minute, Ivan Bogere made it 2:1 a minute later before James Angu completed his brace in the 35th minute to give parity for visitors bright Stars.
After the break, Sharif Kimbowa scored in his own net to give 'The Purple Sharks' the lead and Pius Kaggwa made it 4:2 at hour mark to give Wakiso Giants the Wakiso derby bragging rights over Bright Stars.
Action resumes on Wednesday 1st December, 2021 with two fixtures as KCCA FC will take on BUL FC at Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo whereas Gadafi FC will host Vipers SC at Gadafi Arena.
