Following a unanimous resolution by the police advisory committee to promote the athlete, news reaching us indicate how the world record breaker will be promoted from Inspector of Police (IP) to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
This follows the recent blossoming performance by the athlete in Valencia that saw him win and set a new world record in 10,000M race. Cheptegei has most recently finished fourth in the half marathon held in Poland which was won by fellow Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo.
It should be remembered that Cheptegei was regraded from SPC to the Police Constable and appointed Inspector of Police after winning double gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
After the request to promote Cheptegei was forwarded, it only awaits the President of the Republic of Uganda to endorse the request and hence Cheptegei will be on the rank ASP.
