Good news coming through from NBS Television confirm how Samson Kasumba has been released from Kiira Road Police Station where he spent 24 hours under questioning.
Apparently, the Uganda Editors’ Guild called for a quick and transparent investigation into matters that led to the arrest of Mr. Samson Kasumba, a news anchor at NBS Television.
Police on Monday, April 20 night arrested Mr. Kasumba, who has since been detained at Kira Police Station in Kampala before conducting a search at his residence. Police officers from the Crimes Intelligence Unit also prevented his lawyers from accessing him or witnessing a search they are undertaking at his Naalya residence.
Police Spokesman Fred Enanga on Tuesday April 21 said Mr. Kasumba’s arrest is not in anyway connected to his journalistic work, but he’s being investigated together with others for alleged “subversive activities”.
Mr. Enanga added that detectives from Electoral and Political offenses department were interrogating him.
