Table leaders and title contenders Vipers visit 7th placed Maroons at Luzira Prison grounds today at 4PM in a match to be televised live on Sanyuka TV.

After KCCA drew 1:1 with URA at Lugogo, a win today will guarantee the Venoms as table leaders of the league's first round irrespective of what comes from KCCA's other matches.

Douglas Bamweyana coached side is 7th on table with 19 points winning as many matches as lost 5, drawing four from 14 points.

Vipers come in this match on the back of a 1:0 loss to defending champions KCCA and hence may not seem as threatening as they were before that season's only loss. The Prisoners also lost 3:2 to relegation threatened Proline FC in their most recent match.

However, the Edward Golola coached side is boosted by the return to squad of league's top scorer Fahad Bayo. The pacy striker helped the Cranes bank their first three points in AFCON 2021 qualifying campaign as he netted the second to secure a 2:0 victory over visiting side Malawi Flames at Namboole.

Back to squad also is captain Halid Lwaliwa who was also at the national duty as the Kasasiro boys condemned the Kitende based side to the first loss of the season.

It will be the 13th meeting between the side with Vipers winning on eight occasions and drawing four without any loss in the last 12 matches.

A win today against home side by Vipers is a possibility.

Last 5 matches at Maroons

2018/19:- Maroons 1-2 Vipers
2017/18:- Maroons 1-1 Vipers
2015/16:- Maroons 0-1 Vipers

2010/11:- Maroons 1-2 Vipers.

The other day's fixture is at Star Times Stadium Lugogo between relegation threatened sides Police FC and Proline at 4:30PM.

Police who are 14th on the table have won four drawn two and lost eight will be at home and a win will increase their chances of surviving relegation status in their last game of the first round.

A win for the visitors will take them level on points with the cops and it will be a big boost in their quest for surviving relegation status by the end of first round given that they'll have some other two matches to go.
