The Ekyoto Ha Mpango Festival wrapped up in style, leaving an unforgettable mark on the 29th coronation anniversary of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV as hosted by the Talent Africa Group at Buhinga Stadium, the festival was a showcase of Tooro’s rich culture, featuring everything from royal tours to jaw-dropping performances.
Kicking off on September 12th with the historic coronation ceremony, the festival paved the way for two days of non-stop excitement. And when we say excitement, we mean competitive golf and basketball tournaments, both overseen by the King himself! Yes, you read that right—King Oyo wasn’t just a spectator; he was out there, front and center, adding a regal touch to the games.
Nature lovers were in for a treat too, with royal tours to the Kibaale Gorilla Trekking experience, one of the most beautiful gems of the Tooro region. To top it all off, His Majesty, alongside Princess Bagaya, led a special bird-watching delegation—because nothing says royal like spotting majestic birds in the wild.
But the royal extravagance didn’t stop there. Her Royal Majesty, the Queen Mother, Queen Dr. Best Olimi Kemigisa Akiiki, presided over a fashion gala that celebrated both traditional and contemporary designs. From elegant royal dinners to cutting-edge fashion shows, it was a glamorous affair for the ages.
Of course, what's a festival without a killer soundtrack? The Ekyoto Ha Mpango Festival didn’t disappoint. Big-name artists like Blu 3, Fik Fameica, and Beenie Gunter shared the stage with homegrown talents like Atwooki Richie, Irene Henda, and many more. DJs Tony, DJ Bash, and DJ Hash kept the vibe alive, spinning tunes that had everyone grooving well into the night.
Talent Africa Group CEO Aly Allibhai was beaming with pride: “We are incredibly proud to have organized this festival, which celebrates our culture and brings people together. Our commitment to promoting Ugandan talent and heritage is unwavering, and we are grateful to everyone who participated.”
MTN Momo’s regional rep Abel Mwesigye echoed that vibe, saying, “This vibrant celebration of culture, creativity, and community truly embodies the spirit of togetherness that we strive to promote. We’re thrilled to have been part of such an inspiring event.”
Even UBL’s Edgar chimed in, calling the festival a “platform that brings people together to celebrate creativity, music, and tradition.” He couldn’t have said it better—Ekyoto Ha Mpango wasn’t just a festival; it was a movement, uniting Tooro’s finest with the broader Ugandan community in a colorful celebration of heritage and artistry.
Powered by a strong lineup of sponsors, including MTN Momo, Pilsner Lager, Movit, and the Ministry of Tourism, the Ekyoto Ha Mpango Festival proved that when Ugandans come together to celebrate their culture, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. From the royal family to the everyday reveler, this was a festival that brought joy, pride, and unforgettable memories to everyone who attended.
