The Court of Appeal has officially begun the hearing of Troy Wamala’s case, the man convicted for the murder of Ugandan music legend Mowzey Radio.
The late Mowzey Radio, a beloved member of the Goodlyfe Crew, passed away in February 2018, days after sustaining fatal injuries from a violent altercation at De Bar in Entebbe on January 22, 2018.
Troy Wamala was arrested as the prime suspect and, in 2019, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for his role in the tragic incident. However, he later appealed the ruling, seeking a review of his sentence.
His appeal process has faced several delays, often due to claims of unavailability or unreadiness by his legal team.
Speaking to Sanyuka TV, Mowzey Radio’s brother, who attended the court session, expressed frustration over the repeated postponements, accusing Troy of using legal technicalities to stall the process.
The court has now ruled that the verdict will be delivered on notice, meaning the ruling will be announced at a later date.
Radio’s Family Unhappy with Initial Sentence
Despite the 13-year sentence handed down in 2019, Radio’s family remains unsatisfied, arguing that it does not match the gravity of their loss.
"Radio was the breadwinner and caretaker for our mother. He had a family, children, and many responsibilities. We felt the sentence was too lenient, especially since the time he spent on remand was deducted from it. But we had no choice."
As the legal battle continues, fans and family of the late singer await the final ruling, hoping for justice that truly honors the legacy of Mowzey Radio.
