Over the weekend, the much anticipated Eddy Kenzo Festival came to pass following the hype that started a few months with the road to the Eddy Kenzo Festival were the headlining singer Edirisa Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo traversed more than 10 cities in Uganda.
The road to the Festival then made a stop at the kololo Independence for the big event. The performanes were nice ranging from the local artistes to the international artistes that included Harmonize from Tanzania, Mampi from Zambia and Matt B among others.
Eddy Kenzo who was the man of the moment gave an electrifying performance on the lit stage, the lighting and sound was top notch. Besides the good show that involved a big crowd and good performances, few people got to know one thing about the stage.
Fenon Events was the company that was contracted to do event production of the festival and this meant they were the team behind the light, stage and sound that thousands of the festival attendees saw.
Well, the beautiful stage and everything on it was done in one day as usually takes four days. Fenon events has always been known for putting up the set-up of an event four or three days before the day of the show but this time, it was up on the morning of the show.
Last week, the long week science fair was happening at the Kololo Airstrip and this meant that they couldn’t set up until it was done and this was Friday when the long week event ended.
The same Fenon events crew was at Cricket Oval at the show headlined by Beenie man, a Jamaican artiste. The cricket oval show happened a day before the Eddy Kenzo festival and it was after the Friday show that the team spent the whole night setting up for the next day.
For those who saw the stage half way done didn’t believe their eyes at midday when the show kicked off. The stage was looking beautiful, the sound was clear and the lighting could only be judged in the night when the show real kicked off.
