Singer Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel Manizo of the dynamic Radio and Weasel music group has vowed to go bare knuckles with international artists who have made it a habit of performing their songs without permission.
In the guise of paying tribute to the late Ugandan superstar singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, many international acts who stage concerts in Uganda have been paying respect to the late Mowzey Radio by performing his songs the latest victim being Nigerian singer Chike who did so during his 'A Night with Chike' show that went down at Serena Hotel last Tuesday.
Chike had to thrill revelers with the past memories of Mowzey Radio by performing the 'Breathe away' song something that is still bothering Weasel since the Nigerian infringed on his copyrights.
"Ugandan Events Organisers Why do you invite international Artists to come and perform our own songs without consulting us ?š¤·š¼š¤·š¼šš WTF Lwaki mutujjooga nyoo man ?" Weasel expressed his dissatisfaction through his socials.
The singer has henceforth threatened to take on international artists who won't respond to his concern and go on to use their works without permission and authorisation.
The seemingly grieved Weasel has wondered why Chike wouldn't borrow a leaf from big international acts like Wiz kid and Rudeboy who asked for permission to perform their songs in Uganda.
"There is no one we can refuse to give rights to perform or pay tribute to our very own as long as you go through the right channels …. Show some Respect. come inquire & Ask for permission… If Wizkid, Rudeboy Psquare can come and ask for permission then who are you? I think we have been too silent we gonna start going abit Hard on this thing."- Weasel Manizo
