"I started the training facility in 2018 and so far I have managed to develop it to 60 percent. Now I need support to a tune of 500,000 dollars to be able to complete it so that it will help Uganda produce many more medals," he told reporters.
"Over the past years, I have dedicated my winnings from the race track towards the construction of a training center that is built to international standards and can act as a vehicle for young athletics talent in Uganda and beyond to achieve their dreams, like mine, of winning gold," he said.
The money fundraised will go towards the construction of a world-class hostel facility with fitness and other related equipment, according to Cheptegei.
