A second Ugandan boxer in David Ssemujju has bowed out of the on going Tokyo Olympics after losing to Algeria’s Younes Nemouchion Monday afternoon.
Ssemujju became the second boxer to be eliminated from the Olympics after Catherine Nanziri was also shown the exit a day before.
Like Catherine Nanziri, Ssemujju lost after all judges unanimously decided, the Algerian, Younes Nemouchi, had won.
The two join rower Kathleen Grace Noble, who also failed to make it to the quarter finals of rowing after she failed in both the groups of first qualification and in Repechage.
Uganda's hopes for a first boxing medal now lies in the Bombers' captain Shadir Musa Bwogi who takes on Georgia’s Madiev on Tuesday at 11:30am.
Uganda last won a medal in boxing in 1980, a John Mugabi Silver medal at the Moscow games in Russia.
