With the Star Times Uganda Premier League second round kick starting on 7th January, 2020, table leaders Vipers SC have started the January transfer window in gear with the acquisition of Mbarara City's midfielder cum forward Paul Mucureezi.
The former KCCA player signed a three year deal at St.Mary's Stadium and his signature at the Venoms comes at a time when his contract with the Ankole Lions had expired and hence joins on a free transfer deal.
On his arrival at the Kitende based side, Coach Edward Golola said: “Mucureezi is one of the best wingers or forwards in the Uganda Premier League. He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Vipers SC and he fits exactly the type of player we were looking for to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further. I am delighted he has signed with us.”
Mucureezi hit news headlines when he scored four goals against Sudan in the qualifiers of the recent CHAN tournament. He has been the brains behind Mbarara City's good performance for the one year he's been at the Mwine Mpaka's team.
Vipers SC finished the first round of the season at the top of the table on 36 points, four points clear of second placed KCCA, 11 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. Mucureezi is thought to make his debut at the club in their second round's opener match against Kyetume on Friday 10th January, 2020.
Ladies and Gentlemen.
