Muhammad Ssegirinya, who has been undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi for the past three months, had previously been in a concerning state following his release on bail in a high-profile case.
The case involves allegations of his involvement with the Bijambiya Militia, which was accused of a series of violent attacks in the Masaka region.
Earlier, the lawmaker's health was so compromised that his supporters discouraged the circulation of his photos, finding them too distressing. However, a recent visit by National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary-General Lewis Rubongoya has sparked a wave of optimism.
Rubongoya shared a photograph of Ssegirinya looking considerably healthier, with noticeable weight gain and a smile that resonated with many.
“This morning, we checked on Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi. Very pleased to see that he is in much better health. He sends greetings to all of you and appreciates you for the solidarity. Let’s continue praying for him,” Rubongoya wrote.
As Ssegirinya continues his treatment, his supporters remain hopeful for his full recovery, buoyed by this latest encouraging development.
