Jacob Kiplimo has again raised Uganda’s flag highest with a gold medal in the 5000m race at the ongoing commonwealth games in Birmingham.
Kiplimo posted a time of 13:08:08 seconds to beat competition from Kenya’s duo of Kipkorir Kimeli and Jacob Krop who finished second and third to win silver and bronze respectively.
Kiplimo ends business in Birmingham in style with a gold medal, the second for him after he also clinched one in the 10,000m while it is the third for Uganda following Kiplangat Victor’s victory in the marathon.
Kiplimo joins Moses Kipsiro, Joshua Cheptegei the other Ugandans to clinch a double at a commonwealth event. It is also his third medal in a month after he also clinched a bronze in the Oregon World athletics championship in the US.
