The Ugandan Law Society has kick started a fundraising drive through its members to facilitate hospital bills for one of their own, Antony Yeboah Wameli, who is battling with Cancer in the US.
The head of the Legal Department of the opposition National Unity Platform-NUP Party was diagnosed with stage four cancer; colon cancer alias bowel cancer by the doctors at Boston Medical Center located in Massachusetts in the United States of America months ago where he has been hospitalised since September 2021.
According to Pheona Nabasa-Wall, the President Uganda Law Society, there is a need by the society to intervene and help one of their own and CEO Wameli & Co. Advocates with financial contributions to foot his medication given his long stay on his sick bed in the US.
Pheona Nabasa-Wall has henceforth called upon all practicing lawyers to honour this noble cause and contribute towards advocate Wameli's treatment.
All contributions will then be handed over to the patient through the Uganda Law Society bank accounts.
Stage four cancer occurs when cancer spreads to other body tissues and organs such as the liver. It may also reach the lungs, the lymph nodes, or the lining of the abdominal cavity.
Good news is that Wameli is currently undergoing chemotherapy and responding well to treatment.
