FUFA has named Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic as the new head coach of the Uganda National team, the Cranes. Micho returns for his second stint at the Uganda National team and will be in charge for the next three years until 2024.
Micho, who was nick named "Sserunjoji" by the Lugave clan members of Buganda kingdom will officially start his duties on 1st August,2021 and a press conference will be staged on Tuesday 28th July,2021.
FUFA had this to write on their website..
"Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) hereby announces that Mr. Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been appointed Head coach of the Uganda Cranes on a three year renewable contract effective 1st August 2021."
The 51 year old Serbia international comes in with a wealth of experience in African football having coached Al-Hilal Omdurman (Sudan) National team of Rwanda (2013–2017),Orlando Pirates of South Africa (2019), Zamalek to mention but a few.
Milutin' Micho' Sredojevic comes back for a second stint having coached the same side between 2013 & 2017. He's also remembered for having guided the Uganda Cranes team back to AFCON 2017 in Gabon, breaking a 39 year jinx of failing to qualify since 1978.
Micho is well versed with Uganda football having also coached SC Villa and guided it to the 16th league title in 2004 and their last league title since.
FUFA said Micho is mandated to naming his back room staff....
"The Head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff." FUFA noted.
He replaces Jonathan McKinstry who was sacked in March and Abdullah Mubiru has since then acted in the interim coach role.
