Latest reports coming through from Bank of Uganda confirm how Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile has been kicked out and is nolonger the Governor of Bank of Uganda after President Yoweri Museveni declined to renew his contract.
Mutebile whose contract ends on Thursday 14th Jan, has been at the helm of BoU as the Governor for the last 20 years since his appointment in 2001.
According to a source at Bank of Uganda, the frail economist was on Saturday carried to State House to beg for renewal of his contract, however, the appointing authority turned him down.
The source said; “Mutebile’s plea hit a dead end and the later was lifted back to his home. We have seen him off, he messed up BoU by appointing relatives, thanks to the board of directors which blocked the appointments and ordered for conduction of interviews,” a source told Eagle Online
He said since Saturday, the governor has been packing his belonging out of the central Bank.
