The Joint Christian Council religious leaders on Monday released doves to fly as a symbol of peace in Uganda but instead they all fell down and refused to fly, a symbol that left them in shock and worry.
The prayers held at the Munyonyo Martyrs shrine was led by Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga as the Joint Christian Council was meeting to say prayers for the country ahead of the January 14th General Polls.
During the service, Lwanga dismissed reports that the prayers would serve as an opportunity to campaign for some candidates.
Some religious leaders use the opportunity to speak out on the repression against opposition politicians. The prayers ended with the releasing of doves in the sky to fly for peace during the elections.
The video and pictures of the event are going viral with Ugandans saying the birds were right because the election is not peaceful.
