After a huge court battle, Aine Godfrey Kaguta aka Sodo, President Museveni's brother together with his fans are finally jubilating after the court awarded him the NRM Party ticket that had been withdrawn by the secretariat after his rival for the seat, Shartsi Musherure had filed complaints citing malpractices in the party primaries.
High Court Civil Division Judge Musa Ssekana has awarded costs to President Yoweri Museveni’s brother Godfrey Aine Kaguta alias Sodo for losing Mawogola North National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag.
Sodo won in the NRM party primaries but Shartsi petitioned the Secretariat and alleged that there were lots of malpractice. Since there was no time to hold another election, the NRM secretariat dicided to withdraw the party ticket from SODO who had won it and ordered both candidates to come as independents.
“This court issues an Order of Certiorari quashing both decisions of the 1st Respondent i.e the NRM Election Disputes Tribunal and that of the Secretary General of NRM since it was based on an illegal decision of the Election Disputes Tribunal,” ruled Justice Musa Ssekaana Monday morning.
Sodo went to court to reverse this decision since he won the primaries. Court ordered that Sodo must hold the party ticket in the 2021 general elections.
