Ugandan musician and politician Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has insisted that he was born on February, 12th 1982 despite claims by the Uganda National Examination Board that he was born in1980.

Bobi Wine said this after the Parliament of Uganda web portal had edited his bio data changing his birth date from February 12, 1982 to February 12, 1980 following commentaries made by the UNEB Secretary General Dan Odongo that Bobi Wine was born in 1980 not 1982.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) President said that he has contacted the Parliament IT Department inquiring why they had to change his bio data details without his consent and told them to undo the changes.

“This morning, my attention was drawn to an alteration in my information on the website of Parliament. My year of birth was altered from 1982 to 1980 without my knowledge” Said Bobi Wine in a social media post “I immediately called the IT department of Parliament and they claimed not to know who made that change. I have tasked them to explain that and will be speaking to the Director soon”

Recently, city lawyer Male Mabirizi opened inquiry into Bobi Wine’s age and academic documents an inquiry that brought controversy as information on Bobi Wine’s documents seemed to conflict with his parliament website bio-data. Counsel Mabirizi has since then went ahead to open a request access to Bobi Wine’s academic documents from electoral commission and UNEB expecting to use discrepancies in those documents to block Bobi Wine from contenting for the President’s Seat in the forthcoming 2021 General elections.

Bobi Wine has however assured his supporters not worry or panic since his academic documents are ok. He went ahead to say that Cousel Mabirizi’s actions are attempts by the government to stop him from contesting in 2021 but promised his supporters that he will overcome.

“My assurance to all of you friends is that there is no cause for alarm with regard to all my records - whether academic or otherwise. I will soon address all of you about the specifics. In the meantime, treat these as the usual desperate attempts by the regime to block, embarrass or detract its opponents. Unfortunately, at every interval, they have always easily found some tools to use in these shameful manoeuvres.” Added Bobi Wine

Counsel Mabirizi has gone ahead to open criminal cases against Bobi Wine and has requested the Wakiso Magistrates Court to issue Warrant of Arrest to have Bobi arrested.

“They [Government] have done worse things and they will do more, but NOTHING, COMPLETELY NOTHING will stop our revolution” concluded Bobi Wine.
