Police Releases Father Deogratius Kiibi After Paying Bond

Mpigi District Police Commander, Herbert Nuwaga has confirmed the release of celebrity catholic priest, Father Deogratius Kiibi on a police bond this website has learned.

The "Mukolerere Obulambo bwamwe" slogan initiator had been arrested on Sunday morning for defying the presidential directives on public gatherings put in place in the fight to control the Covid-19 pandemic after being found conducting mass at St. Joseph Catholic Parish Church, Mpigi district.

"He was found conducting mass at St. Joseph Catholic Parish Church. This contravenes with the presidential directives that suspended public gatherings," stated Mpigi District Police Commander, Herbert Nuwagaba.

Father Kiibi has however been charged with neglect act likely to spread infection of a disease under article 171 of the Penal Code Act.
