KCCA FC became the first side to land a quarter finals berth in the Stanbic Uganda Cup with a 1:0 win over Dove FC at Katushabe ground s in Masindi. Thanks to a 12 minute goal from younger star Sadat Anaku after a good donkey work from Filbert Obenchan.

KCCA FC who missed a number of players with some at the national duty and others out through injury, failed to snatch more goals as it was thought after they got an early goal but the Masindi side seem a hard side to distabilise for another. Muzamiru Mutyaba and Mike Mutyaba all missed through injuries whereas Julius Poloto, Charles Lukwago, Herber Achai, Samuel Kato and Mustafa Kizza are all at National Duty in preparation for CHAN.

Doves' skipper Ivan Busingye was sent for an early shower in the 70th minute after malicious play on midfielder Ibrahim Juma.

Prolines FC are the defending champions after beating Bright Stars in post match penalties last year. The winners are guaranteed of a slot in the CAF Confederation cup and KCCA FC who are the record champions of the tournament together with already eliminated Express FC on 10 trophies stand greater chances of winning this year’s tournament after the exit of Vipers, BUL and Express with URA FC and SC Villa the remaining threats.

A look at the remaining fixtures for the Uganda Premier League title contenders indicates Vipers as the favourites for this season’s league title and therefore KCCA should put emphasis on this tournament too if they are to have a silverware this season.

Action continues on Friday 13th March, 2020 with two fixtures as Kyetume will play host to Maroons and Light SS host UPDF.
