Singer Bruno K is celebrating a major legal victory against his former record label, Black Market Records, following a prolonged battle over copyright infringement and royalty disputes.
The feud dates back to Bruno K’s exit from Black Market Records, after which the label allegedly raised copyright claims on his YouTube channel and continued collecting royalties from his old music.
In 2023, with the help of his legal team and music distribution experts, Bruno successfully regained access to his YouTube channel, but the legal fight persisted.
Today, a final judgment was delivered, ruling that Black Market Records must cease any interference or copyright claims on Bruno K’s music.
Additionally, the label has been ordered to pay Bruno a total of UGX 130 million in damages:
The court also ruled that if Black Market Records fails to comply, an annual interest rate of 14% will be applied from the judgment date.
Taking to social media, Bruno K expressed gratitude to UNMF president Eddy Kenzo and his legal team for supporting him throughout the case.
