Uganda's healthcare industry received a major upgrade today, on Wednesday with the grand opening of Healingway Hospital, a state-of-the-art medical and fertility center formerly known as Paragon Hospital. The event, graced by Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among, marked a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward quality, accessible healthcare.
Speaking at the launch, Among commended the private sector for its vital role in supplementing government efforts to deliver health services.
She specifically applauded Capt. Mike Mukula, the hospital’s founder and chairman of Fortune Group of Companies, for investing in the health and well-being of Ugandans.
“This is giving back to the community, You could have put this money somewhere else, but you chose to invest in the people. Parliament is ready to support and build more world-class hospitals like this one.” Among said.

Among also pledged continued government support through tax waivers on medical equipment and committed to pushing for the passing of key health-related legislation, including the National Health Insurance Bill and the Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill.
Capt. Mukula emphasized that Healingway Hospital aligns with President Museveni’s vision of "African solutions to African problems." He highlighted Uganda’s strategic position in Africa, stating the facility will serve not only Ugandans but also attract patients from Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, and Tanzania.
“We are positioning Uganda as a destination for health tourism, This initiative will also empower local medical professionals and help keep patients from seeking care abroad.” Mukula said.
