Makerere University Elects Ssentamu Churchill James as their 91st Guild President

Makerere University has ushered in a new chapter of student leadership with the election of Ssentamu Churchill James as the 91st Guild President with students, faculty, and organizations showering the new leader with congratulatory messages.

Makerere University officially confirmed the results via social media, declaring: "Congratulations to the 91st Guild President Elect, H.E. Ssentamu Churchill James."

The Makerere Students’ Guild echoed the sentiment, hailing him as "Endorsed by God."

Among those celebrating his win was Serunjogi N Joy Eve, the outgoing 90th Vice President, who praised Ssentamu’s resilience and faith:
"A true testament that God doesn’t choose the qualified but rather qualifies the chosen. Congratulations, Your Excellency Ssentamu Churchill James! The 91st and Makerere at large are truly blessed to be under the stewardship of such a resilient character."

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), an organization dedicated to nurturing young Ugandan leaders, also expressed its support, saying:
"We join the rest of the Makerere community in congratulating Ssentamu Churchill James on being elected 91st Guild President. As ELP, we wish you all the best in this huge yet exciting chapter. Godspeed!"

Even the Makerere University Endowment Fund acknowledged his win, posting:
"Congratulations, Ssentamu Churchill James, on your election as the 91st Makerere University Guild President! We wish you a successful and impactful term as you serve the student community."

Ssentamu takes office at a crucial time when students are calling for strong leadership to tackle issues like academic welfare, campus infrastructure, and student representation in governance. His campaign focused on transparency, student empowerment, and fostering unity among the diverse student body.
