Music legend Ragga Dee, real name Daniel Kazibwe, is gearing up for a monumental concert to commemorate his 37 years in the music industry, named "37 Years of Ragga Dee" which will take place on Saturday, January 25th, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Ragga Dee has been a household name in Uganda since the early 1990s, with a catalog of timeless hits such as Bamusakata, Ngagala Dance, Parliament, Empeta, and Mbawe.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “Thirty-seven years of doing this has not come easily.” His music journey began at the former Nile Hotel (now Kampala Serena Hotel), where he and his peers gained recognition by performing in Lingala to match the demand for Congolese music at the time.
A Star-Studded Event with Surprises
The concert will not only celebrate Ragga Dee's contributions but will also highlight the successes of other Ugandan artists from different generations. The event is being produced by music maestro Steve Jean and sponsored by Pepsi and MTN Uganda.
Ragga Dee revealed that a mystery artist who recently completed rehabilitation will make a surprise performance. This artist was supported in their recovery by Ragga Dee and Charles Mbiire of MTN Uganda, who promised to gift them new band instruments once fully recovered.
Legendary Collaborations
At a press conference, Ragga Dee was joined by iconic figures in Ugandan music, including Halima Namakula, Dr. Bossa, Isaac Ruccibigango (Limit X), and Babaluku, all of whom have played key roles in his remarkable journey.
Tickets and Pricing
Tickets for the concert are priced at UGX 150,000, with early bird tickets available at UGX 100,000 via MTN MoMo.
