Media personality-turned-politician Miles Rwamiti Apuuli has thrown his hat into the ring for the Nakawa West MP seat, challenging the current Leader of Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi Bisekezi, in the 2026 general elections.

Rwamiti, known for his stint as the host of Urban TV and Spark TV’s “Koona,” recently announced his political ambitions in a press interview, expressing confidence in his ability to improve his home area. He believes that his deep roots and firsthand experience in Nakawa West make him the ideal candidate to address the region’s challenges.

“It’s no secret that I’m interested in running for the Nakawa West parliamentary seat. I believe I’m the right man for the job because I have lived my entire life there. I married and got kids from there so basically I’m one of the people. Besides, the area has a lot of problems such as poor roads that need to be fixed. I won’t be coming under any party because all I care about is service delivery,” Rwamiti stated.

In the 2021 general elections, Rwamiti ran for the Hoima East MP seat under the Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) banner, but he garnered only 149 votes, losing to Independent candidate Dr. Patrick Isingoma. Despite this setback, Rwamiti remains undeterred and focused on his new political pursuit.

When questioned about his political party affiliation for the upcoming elections, Rwamiti emphasized the importance of service over party loyalty. He urged voters to choose candidates based on their ability to deliver tangible results, rather than party alignment.

Previously, Rwamiti’s electoral defeat was met with ridicule from some colleagues, including Jenkins Mukasa and Eddie Sendi. However, he is determined to forge ahead and make a positive impact in Nakawa West.
