Singer Daudi Mugema finds himself stranded in a Gulu hotel, clinging to the hope of medical aid from Gen. Salim Saleh. The singer has been battling a mysterious sickness that causes severe swelling in his feet for years to an extent of even flying out for help, which didn't do much for him.
Mugema's health saga began with numerous tests at Mulago Hospital, where doctors initially suspected cancer. Desperate for answers, Mugema was flown to Turkey for specialized treatment. Surprisingly, five rigorous tests ruled out cancer, leaving Mugema both relieved and perplexed.
Returning to Uganda, Mugema reached out to Gen. Saleh via email, pleading for financial assistance for further medical treatment.
The retired general responded, promising to meet the singer on April 24, 2024. Yet, weeks passed without any follow-up, and Gen. Saleh eventually referred Mugema back to Mulago Hospital for another cancer diagnosis, which once again confirmed he was cancer-free.
Frustrated and seeking a solution, Mugema returned to Gulu, hoping for Gen. Saleh’s intervention.
However, the singer has now been waiting for over a month without any assistance. In a heartfelt plea, Mugema has appealed to the public for help, seeking funds to return to his home village before his condition worsens. He also highlighted his need for USD 30,000 to fly to India for the treatment he so desperately needs.
