As Ugandans bids farewell to Joseph Tamale Mirundi, who passed away last night at Kisubi Hospital ICU after a long health battle with lung complications, video clips of his final will have started making rounds, he left behind very strict rules to be followed before his burial.


Tamale Mirundi had previously laid out specific and vibrant instructions for his final send-off. The media personality and larger-than-life figure had requested that his residences in Zana, Kabalagala, Kyengera, and his home village each host two-day vigils in his honor before his burial.

Far from being solemn occasions, Mirundi’s vigils are to be a lively celebration of his life. True to his spirited character, he envisioned these gatherings as festivities filled with music, food, and an abundance of alcoholic beverages. Mirundi's request reflects his larger-than-life personality and his desire for a joyous farewell that mirrors the energy he brought to his media career and personal life.

Mirundi's final wish was that these celebrations would capture the essence of his vibrant spirit, offering friends and family a chance to honor his memory with the same enthusiasm and joy that he infused into his work and life.
