Kampala's beloved Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, underwent a successful surgery on his spine/cervical disc at Fontis Memorial Hospital in Gurugram, New Delhi, India. Lukwago's journey to healing began in Nairobi, where he initially sought treatment but was later referred to India for specialized care.

After enduring excruciating pain and tingling sensations for over two months due to a herniated or bulging C6-7 disc, Lukwago opted for a specialized Anterior Cervical Disc and Fusion surgery. This decision led him to New Delhi, where he underwent the procedure to address his spinal issues.

In a heartfelt Facebook update, Lukwago expressed gratitude for emerging from the operation theater and the Intensive Care Unit, where he spent several hours in a battle for his life.

He extended his appreciation to the team of meticulous neurologists and his supporters for their unwavering love and prayers during his recovery journey.

"Glory be to the Gracious Lord whose mighty Will made it possible for me to wake up from the operation theatre and the Intensive Care Unit of Fortis Memorial Hospital, Grugram, India where I spent several hours battling for life."- he posted.

However, Lukwago now faces the reality of living with an artificial cervical disc, as his natural one remains in India. Despite this adjustment, he remains optimistic and focused on his recuperation. He plans to spend some time recovering in India before returning to Uganda.

The news of Lukwago's successful surgery has been met with relief and well-wishes from his constituents and well-wishers alike. As he embarks on the road to recovery, the people of Kampala eagerly anticipate his return and continued service to the community.
