In an election held at the Congolese Embassy in Kololo, renowned businessman and city socialite Williams Bugeme, aka Boss Mutoto, was elected the New President of Congolese nationals residing in the Ugandan Diaspora.
The election, which saw Bugeme running unopposed, garnered overwhelming support from 74 representatives spanning various sectors of the Congolese community in Uganda.
Representatives from diverse backgrounds, encompassing members from both Christian and Muslim faiths, business tycoons, corporate leaders, and esteemed individuals, actively participated in the democratic process, underscoring the collective engagement and unity within the Congolese diaspora.
Assuming the presidency, Boss Mutoto assumes pivotal responsibilities, including advocacy and representation, diplomatic engagement, and fostering national identity and unity among the Congolese diaspora community.
Addressing the press following his election triumph, Bugeme underscored his unwavering commitment to fulfilling the entrusted duties.
"I am fully cognizant of the challenges ahead, and I stand prepared to champion the interests and aspirations of our diaspora community. This entails amplifying their voices, addressing their concerns, and advocating for their inclusion in national policies and decision-making processes," expressed Bugeme.
