Promoter Balaam Barugahara, despite never running for any office and just being a savvy businessman, has been a pivotal figure in political mobilization, particularly rallying support for President Yoweri Museveni and, more recently, for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, now he is the new Minister for Youth and Children Affairs.

Speaking out in an interview today morning, with Sanyuka TV this morning, Balaam told the country that with this appointment, the President has entrusted him with 75% of the country’s population, which he hopes to work with and better their lives.

Public records reveal that Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi was born on July 28, 1979, to the late Eng. David Balaam Byenkya Akiiki and Gladesi Byenkya Abwooli. While maintaining a relatively private personal life, Barugahara is reportedly a father of four, though he seldom appears with his children in public. His educational journey includes stints at Namasagali College, St. John Bosco Senior Secondary School, and Original Progressive Senior Secondary School. He pursued higher education at Makerere University, obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Marketing, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Cavendish University.

In a notable recognition of his contributions, Barugahara was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in humanity from Zoe Life Theological College, USA, on February 21, 2023, for his impactful initiatives in Uganda.

Balaam Entrepreneurial Ventures

Barugahara's entrepreneurial portfolio spans diverse sectors, including ownership of several companies such as Original Best Water Company in South Sudan, and Radio One, the pioneering privately owned media house in South Sudan established in 2009. His ventures extend to Balaam Marketing Agency, Radio 4 (Kampala), Radio 7 (Masindi), Radio 8 (Masaka), and Radio 8 (Elgon Region).

Joel Isabirye, a media consultant and confidant of Barugahara, disclosed that the latter's journey into event organization commenced during his high school years. Isabirye further revealed Barugahara's early involvement as a distributor for prominent brands like Coca-Cola, Uganda Breweries spirits, and MTN products in South Sudan. Notably, Barugahara's inaugural large-scale concert organization featured Juliana Kanyomozi.

Beyond media and entertainment, Barugahara diversifies his interests into real estate, farming, manufacturing, tourism, and car rentals, reflecting a multifaceted business acumen.
