Ugandan chef Dorcus Bashema Kirabo, also known as Mama D, has set her eyes on breaking the world record in the ongoing Guinness World Records Cookathon. The excitement reached a fever pitch when she celebrated her birthday and surpassed the 93:40:11 mark set by Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, earlier this year.
With the century mark within her grasp, Mama D is cooking up a storm that has the world on the edge of its seat.
The journey to culinary glory began when Hilda Baci cooked her way into the hearts of Nigerians and Africans at large from May 11th to 15th, 2023, in Lekki, Lagos. However, Baci's culinary reign was short-lived as Irish chef Alan Fisher swooped in and set a new record of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds from September 28th to October 3rd, 2023, in Japan.
Now, it's Mama D's turn to spice things up. Armed with her passion for cooking and a determination to bring glory to Uganda, Mama D aims to beat Fisher's impressive record. Her quest has not gone unnoticed, with government bodies, companies, and notable figures in the entertainment world, including the likes of Eddy Kenzo, rallying behind her. The support for Mama D has transcended the kitchen, turning into a nationwide movement.
Scheduled to achieve this culinary feat on Thursday, Mama D has launched a social media campaign with the hashtag #MamaDsWorldRecord. Supporters are urged to join the conversation across various platforms as Mama D endeavors to etch her name in the annals of culinary history.
As Mama D continues to whip up excitement in kitchens and hearts around the world, her journey promises not just a Guinness World Record but a testament to the power of culinary passion and the celebration of diverse talents across the globe.
