Angry mourners pounced on Majambere and stormed him with blows, kicks and plastic chairs and other objects they could come across leading to him loosing a tooth during the chaos that ensued during Jakana Nadduli's funeral and burial ceremony in Nakaseke.
According to info we received from Nakaseke where the burial was taking place from, a mobilizer of President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s NRM who survived being killed by mourners at the burial of former Minister without Portfolio Al Hajji Abdul Nadduli’s son Jakana Sulayiman Nadduli in Kaddunda village, Kapeeka in Nakaseke District.
Hundreds attended the funeral ceremony of Sulayiman Jakana Nadduli who was pronounced dead early Monday morning. Jakana’s body had been taken to Nakaseke Hospital for a postmortem examination before it was returned to Kaddunda for burial.
Those in attendance at the burial included officials from main opposition party National Unity Platform (NUP). Party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya was the man responsible for delivering the NUP and People Power pressure group condolence.
But a man believed to be an activist of Museveni’s NRM fell into trouble with mourners, a number of whom were said to belong to NUP and People Power. It was not clear how the man, identified as Majembere fell into trouble but he reportedly attempted to block SG Rubongoya from delivering the NUP message, angering NUP supporters.
Other reports suggest that Majembere was an unwanted mourner who should have not stepped at Kaddunda since his NRM government had arrested a sick Jakana Sulayiman Nadduli, detained and allegedly tortured him a few weeks before he breathed his last. Yet other reports suggested that Majambere, who wore a hat, had attempted to draw a pistol at mourners who defended themselves by beating him up. That the mourners were shouting ‘bring back our people’ chants which disturbed Majambere’s peace.
