The Birmingham commonwealth games have so far been so good to Ugandans following a second gold medal attained after Kiplimo Jacob won the 10,000m race at the event going on in England.
In a closely contested race, Kiplimo beat Kenya’s Daniel Simiu Ebenyo when he clocked a time of 27:09:19 compared to the Kenyan who posted a time of 27:11:26 seconds.
With the victory, Jacob Kiplimo ended Joshua Cheptegei’s record when he clocked a time of 27:19:62 in the 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games held between 4 and 15 April in Australia.
The medal (gold) is the second for Uganda who also won the first over the weekend when Kiplangat Victor won the marathon still at the same Birmingham commonwealth event.
Kiplimo can get his second gold medal and the third for Uganda on Saturday 6th August 2022 with a win in the 5000m race. On the same day, Halima Nakaayi will look to replicating the 2019 victory at Doha-Qatar in the 800m when she takes part in the finals at the event.
