Kadongo Kamu singer Sir Mathias Walukagga has applauded Kampala Lord Mayor, Ssalongo Erias Lukwago, the unsung hero that rescued him from rotting in Luzira Prison 13 years ago.
During his father's funeral at Kinyerere, Masaka city on Wednesday, the singer in his speech praised the celebrated lawyer for showcasing his experience in law that rescued him from rotting in Luzira prison as he was battling with businessman, Ssalongo Kasawuli, popularly known as 'Samona', the proprietor of the company that makes Samona products.
Samona accused Walukagga of composing songs tarnishing his image and that of his business products, as well as attempting to extort money from him in order not to release the contested songs such as 'Katulepuks and Bwino womutembeyi.'
That was the beginning of a stormy climax to a long-running feud that rocked the local entertainment industry way back as the song lyrics lashed at an unnamed powerful and wealthy person that Walukagga said was showing animosity towards him and threatening his life over a woman,a one Aisha Nabukeera.
It was only the antics and wisdom of the seasoned lawyer, Hajj Erias Lukwago that rescued Walukagga from jail on court bail and the singer is till now grateful to the opposition top politician.
"I applaud my unsung hero, Mayor Erias Lukwago for always sticking on the right causes most especially to the less privileged. Even when I was rotting in jail, when Samona arrested me, had it not been Hajj Erias Lukwago's antics and wisdom, I would be doomed."-Sir Mathias Walukagga
