League Debutants Arua Hills Stun Express FC At Home

Arua Hills FC who are playing in the Star Times Uganda Premier League for the first time in their history have visited and stunned seven time and league defending champions Express FC 2:0 at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

Robert Eseru and Kawawa Rashid scored for the Arua side to make a winning start to the new season as Express were left Hapless.

It was a misfortune for the league defending champions Express FC who also recklessly lost in the Uganda Cup Semi Finals to BUL FC shortly after exiting the CAF Champions League when they were ejected by Sudanese side Al Merrikh.

Being the CECAFA Kagame Club Champions, Express FC, all odds were on the Red Eagles winning against the league debutants, but as the saying goes, "Soccer is Soccer".

Express FC will hope for a first win of the season when they visit UPDF FC in their second match on 23rd October whereas Arua Hills FC will look to see if they can continue their winning in the a second match in succession on Tuesday 26th October in an Arua derby Against Onduparaka.

Elsewhere today, Mbarara City FC who were playing at home against Bright Stars FC won 3:1. They currently top the table with Arua Hills FC second.

The 'Ankole Lions' scored through Kitegenyi Henry, Karim Ramazan, and Okwalinga Solomon whereas the Stars had their consolation through talisman Ssenkatuuka Nelson.

At Ababet Green Light Stadium home of Onduparaka, a one all stalemate was played against visitors UPDF FC. Thanks to a second half goal from Rashid Agau who restored parity for the Caterpillars who had fallen to a 1:0 lead at 27 minutes mark when UPDF FC scored through Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

Action resumes on Sunday 16th October with three fixtures, Wakiso Giants Vs KCCA FC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Police FC hosting Uganda Cup champions Vipers SC at Lugogo Stadium, and League Debutants Gadafi FC hosting Busoga United FC who were later included on fixtures following prior exclusion. The fixture will take place at Gadafi Arena

For SC Villa's issues are yet to be resolved and are currently off the fixture but FUFA, Uganda's football governing body has acknowledged receipt of a letter from SC Villa by William Nkemba explaining their position and a meeting will be held on Monday to see the way forward.
