Turkey-based Ugandan blogger and government critic Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye has resurfaced by narrating the entire ordeal about his fateful arrest months back.
Ever since his arrest, rumours have been alleging how the staunch National Unity Platform, NUP Party supporter had been repatriated from Turkey back home in Uganda so as to face the 15 charges that he committed previously against the current regime.
According to a trending audio on social media of a recorded phone call, the person who is reported to be Lumbuye is heard sharing with a one Pastor about his situation currently in Turkey.
Lumbuye is accordingly heard talking about his bitter arrest by the Turkish police as he was totally roughed up and beaten by the law enforcers with impunity.
With just a month and half while still in custody, Lumbuye says he was forced to sign papers out of his will that guaranteed him a lifetime of over six months while being held where he is in Turkey.
He has concluded by yearning for mediate help from friends and well wishers so as to regain his personal freedom. It must be remembered that days ago, the Ambassador of Turkey to Uganda, Kerem Alp, reaffirmed how Lumbuye was not arrested or in prison as many alleged but being kept at the immigration centre where he is currently being ‘overseen’ by the Turkish Immigration Agency.
Ali also confirmed that Uganda, Turkey and Interpol have held talks over Lumbuye and a related possibility of repatriation, but he could not divulge details on what the three parties have agreed on.
“Yes, it is correct and a true representation that he is not under detention, but he is overseen at an immigration centre. It is also in line with what Hon. Gen. Jeje Odongo and Hon. Okello Oryem said,” he said.
