Most of the Express FC fans wanted the Star Times Uganda Premier League stopped at this stage following the announcement of the 42 days lock down by President Museveni eight days ago.

Still, most of the football fans in the Star Times Uganda Premier League wanted the FUFA Competitions Rules Article 18(c) that saw Vipers SC crowned champions last season after lock down was announced to be enacted.

To their surprise, coach Wasswa Bbosa, who is the direct beneficiary if the article is enacted, has come out to assert that ending the leagues would deny his side a league double.

Speaking to local website Kawowo sports, Bossa said...

"For us as a club and an individual, I would love the season ended sportingly, We are table leaders and I believe we shall win the championship and then in the semi-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup,” he added.

“Ending the season off the pitch would deny us a double which I believe is very possible if we completed the season and I hope the government allows us to play again.”

Article 18(c) of the FUFA Competitions Rules state that a club leading the Uganda Premier League table after 75% of the matches is played, will be crowned champions in case a calamity befalls the league and it is in this line that Vipers SC were last season crowned champions.

Trophy thirsty Express FC fans who have not celebrated title victory since 2012, wanted the Article enacted but FUFA is working socks down to see the Leagues are completed.

FUFA says they were reducted by 10% of their television broadcast sponsorship deal last season when Vipers SC were crowned champions before the completion of the league.

Express FC are leading leading the table and have had an edge of their immediate title competitors URA FC and Vipers SC and it is on this note that the Express FC boss Wasswa Bbosa is optimistic a double is possible if given a go ahead to complete both Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup season.
