AFCON U20: Uganda Hippos Fall to a 1:0 to Cameroon

In their second match of the AFCON U-20 tournament in Mauritania, Uganda Hippos were 1:0 losers at Cameroon in the match played on Wednesday 17th February.

Despite dominating possession for most of the time, Uganda fell to a 32nd minute strike from Junior Sunday Jang and hence lost their first match of the tournament having won 2:0 in their opener against Mozambique.

In the other group A match played, Hosts Mauritania were 2:0 conquerors of Mozambique. Thanks to goals from Mohammed M'Barek and Sily Sankare.

Uganda play their next and last match of the group on Saturday 20th February against host nation Mauritania.

The 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations is the 16th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (23nd edition if tournaments without hosts are included), the biennial international youth football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for players aged 20 and below.

The top four teams of the tournament would have normally qualified for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives. However, FIFA decided to cancel the tournament on 24 December 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
