The Minister of ICT and National Guidance has come out and cleared the ongoing rumors of Schools in Uganda opening up next month, she has stated that the government has not yet decided the date for re-opening of schools for other classes.

Currently, it’s only candidate classes and finalists in higher institutions of learning that are allowed to go to school.

Minister Judith Nabakooba released a statement following reports that cited ministry of education officials saying that the education sector would be fully reopened in March.

“Now about the reopening of schools for continuing Education. There have been a lot of media reports indicating that education institutions are going to reopen for all learners to resume,” she said.

“I want to call upon everyone to remain calm and continue to be guided by the existing regulations. Currently, it is only finalist students at all levels that are allowed to continue with school.”

According to the minister, it’s the president that will announce when the education sector will fully re-open.
