The Star Times Uganda Premier League match day one saw UPDF FC,the new league entrants win massively against Jinja side Busoga United FC.
UPDF FC's 3:0 win over Busoga United was the biggest of all the matches on match day one. Brian Kayanja opened the scoring five minutes into second half before Brian Kalumba added the second in the 65th minute. Busoga United's Douglas Muganga handed the home side a vital win when he netted in his own goal in the 76th minute in match played at Bombo Military Barracks Stadium.
The win put the soldiers at the top of the table on three points but with a superior goal difference against KCCA FC, the only other winner on match day one. Busoga now stands at the bottom of the table with no point and the biggest negati ve goal difference having conceeded more than any other side.
In the other day's results, home side Onduparaka were held to a one all stalemate with Express FC, thanks to an equaliser from senior player Living Kabonge who ensured they bag a point in the 67th minute. He was named the man of the match after the game.
Express FC had taken the lead in the 13th minute through a penalty kick by Frank Kalanda after he was brought down by Joven Mahad.
At FUFA Technical Center in Njeru, home side Kyetume also played to a one all draw with new league entrants and debutants Kitara FC. Sharif Saaka opened the scoring for Kyetume in the 28th minute before Kitara levelled matters through Mululi Brian Mayanja in the 55th minute.
Brian Muluuli was also named the man of the match after securing a point for the league debutants.
