HiPipo Awards Boss Innocent Kawooya Promises to Digitalize Kampala as New Lord Mayor

As the heat for Kampala Lord Mayorship office race continues rising, the HiPipo Music Awards CEO. Innocent Kawooya has also promised big while joining the race to digitalize Kampala City.

Innocent Kawooya, a digital financial inclusion entrepreneur has vowed to remove politicians from Kampala’s mayor’s office as he is racing against Erias Lukwago, Jose Chameleone, James Ssenkubuge (Democratic Party), Isaac Sendagire, Eddie Bazira Kibalama, Ben Lule and others as he wants replace them with "development-minded" people.

" I am not on one side or the other. I will not get into fights just for the sake of it. I will fight for development. I will find ways to create consensus. I will be practical and get things done.Of course, there are those who do not believe we can do this. I understand the cynicism. After all, every candidate makes promises.

I ask you to look at my history. A young man who went for the top spot in Primary Three and was given a chance. Again, in Senior Three, I rose to the challenge of creating consensus between teachers and students and against all odds I succeeded. Again, in the business world, I have been at the forefront of digital transformation, innovation, media, entertainment and social development and have worked with different types of people across this city to work together productively to get things done."- He stated.

Who is Innocent Kawooya?

Innocent Kawooya (born January 30th) is a Ugandan FinTech Expert, Financial Inclusion consultant, computer programmer, Internet entrepreneur, film producer and entertainment executive that has played a major role in the digital evolution of Africa, particularly Uganda in East Africa.

HiPipo, the organisation for which he is co-founder and CEO, is a leading voice on African entertainment and popular culture when it comes to Music Awards in Africa.

Kawoya started at a Makerere University computer lab as a social entertainment platform, over the years his HiPipo has grown into a multi-diversified company, incorporating fields as diverse the creative arts, digital services, financial inclusion consultancy and events management.
